Architecture in Flight.
For several years we have supported the wonderful work of the “National Moths and Butterflies of New Zealand Trust”, to develop and promote a conceptual proposal for a National Butterfly Centre in Auckland, NZ. With particular focus on the Monarch; a native species of butterfly in serious decline, our generic design presentation provides visual gravitas to their worthy cause.

Careful consideration shaped every aspect of this building’s form and function.
Designed to support education and conservation, the MBNZT desire to create a space where learning and nature beautifully intertwine. This is a building designed not just to serve a purpose, but to inspire.
We invite you to explore both the early concepts and recent renderings, and to experience the passion behind this unique architectural journey.
The Butterfly Education Centre design responds to its environment and to the specific requirements for caring for, and promoting the life cycle of New Zealand’s butterflies.
Every element has been thoughtfully considered to reflect the life and movement of New Zealand’s native moths and butterflies.
From the yellow, black and white glazing that evokes the form of a caterpillar, to a sweeping roofline reminiscent of butterfly wings, each feature is part of a cohesive story for all who will visit the centre..
